Adopt THORChain as back-end

Summary

SushiSwap can enlarge customer service, by offer swap not only for ERC20 tokens, but for BTC, LTC, ATOM, AVAX and more L1 coins, if adopt THORChain as back-end.

Abstract

THORChain project - DEX AMM based on pools. It allows to do cross-chain swaps without wrapped assets, mostly L1 gas tokens.

As well, they have aggregation function for partners. SushiSwap can offer to end users cross-chain swaps, using THORChain :zap: pools for L1 coins and self-service for ERC20. E.g. BTC - SUSHI swap will be done like BTC-ETH on THORChain and then ETH-SUSHI on SushiSwap.

For such swaps SushiSwap can charge fee for all swaps done via its aggregator.

Motivation

  • Be first main swap service to offer such feature (nearest competitor - ShapeShift)
  • Charge fees
  • Enlarge number of swaps in own pools

Specification

  • Read documentation
  • If needed, contact THORChain core-team (via Discord)
  • Implement aggregation function on SushiSwap front-end

For

It allows boost swaps both for SushiSwap and THORChain

Against

Win-win situation, no doubts.

Adopt THORChain as back-end for aggregation feature
  • It is great feature, lets implement
  • It is great feature, but complicated to implement
  • It is no needed feature, do not implement

Great proposal. Native BTC to native ETH! Sushi could be the first among the most popular DEXes that provide its user native L1 swaps.

This is a cool solution, one way or another THORChian should be everywhere, so that people could easily transfer - make exchanges of their assets without restrictions.

I think that it can be considered as an option, now I studied a little information on the torchain in open sources, it sounds interesting, if everything is as it is stated, then users and the sushi community can really win, I think this idea needs to be pushed to the developers.

THORChain is already a full-fledged finished product that works stably 24/7. The next stage of its development is mass implementation

Native BTC? Cool proposal🤩

Yes, I already saw it, as I understand it, the Torchain uses shapeshift, it seems like integration with the trast wallet is going on and, as I understand it, it’s perfect for dexes, as it directly expands their capabilities and doesn’t ask for anything in return, great!

It’s strange that they didn’t pay attention before, it seems to me that Sushi would have become top dex long ago (it’s still top, but it would be super top!)

to be honest i can’t understand why crypto projects still don’t work with Thorchain.
imho with time they’re gonna realize that torch is the powerful thing and maybe it’s gonna be so late for them…

Great idea, you can change atom and avax on Sushi without wrapping

Actually it is ShapeShift that uses Thorchain protocol. It allowed Erik Voorhees to transform ShapeShift into a decentralized service. Erik is a strong supporter of Thorchain.

True. Thorchain protocol is permissionless and any dev can join and find support from core team in integration.

If that’s the case, that’s great. That should be the real dex😉

Being the first major DEX to support BTC via Thorchain would change the game for both TC and SUSHI. It couldn’t be implemented sooner!

Huge value increase to swap native assets like BTC. THORSwap API could get this integration done in a flash, and already integrates SushiSwap erc20 liquidity.

Seems like 9realms(second development division of THORChain) prepares something according this.

Generating extra fee income for the sushi protocol is always welcome.

Easy implementation, big reward.

This can be bullish for sushi and all of it’s users.

This is one of the most momentous proposals in the history of the projects. There are many benefits to both of them in a collaborative effort.

I can get behind the no wrap bare swapping. Throw away the raincoats boys; it’s time to go Sushi Dog™!
